Brand Overview

Wild Boocha is a kombucha brand conceived in Singapore by Michèle Vanlangenaeker and her business partner Summer. Summer discovered kombucha on a trip to London, where it helped with stomach issues she had been experiencing. The flavours she developed when she returned were so well-received by friends that the two decided to formalise the business. Wild Boocha is a member of Kombucha Brewers International.

The physical bottle labels confirm: “Dreamed and developed in Singapore. Brewed and perfected in Malaysia.” The brand’s products are distributed in Singapore by Rawsome Asia Beverages Pte Ltd. The website references a Mandai Link Singapore brewery address — the physical labels do not confirm this as the current production facility.

Wild Boocha uses organic raw cane sugar and organic teas. All flavourings across the confirmed range are declared as fresh, whole produce — fresh fruits and fresh herbs — added through a second fermentation. “VEGAN RAW UNPASTEURIZED” is confirmed verbatim on both physical labels reviewed. Products are available in 300ml plastic bottles through wildboocha.com, Lazada Singapore, and office pantry delivery via CaterSpot.

Scorecard Breakdown

Multi-flavour scoring note: 2 physical bottles reviewed — Raspberry Passionfruit and Lemongrass Ginger Turmeric. Both labels are consistent in structure, declarations, and nutrition data. Sugar is confirmed at 4g per 100ml across both flavours — at the scorecard threshold but not below it. “VEGAN RAW UNPASTEURIZED” is confirmed verbatim on both labels.
Criteria Finding Score
SCOBY origin & integrity Max 15 pts — Live, documented culture. Not a vinegar shortcut. “Live kombucha culture” is explicitly declared inside the kombucha sub-declaration on both physical labels. “Strands of kombucha may appear. This is a sign of a healthy, only lightly filtered raw kombucha.” is confirmed on both labels — a direct on-label claim of visible SCOBY culture activity. The brand is a Kombucha Brewers International member, indicating active professional engagement with global brewing standards. SCOBY starter kits are sold, confirming the brand maintains an active, living culture. No specific SCOBY lineage or origin documentation is published. 13 / 15
Carbonation source Max 15 pts — Natural 2nd fermentation only. No added carbonated or sparkling water. No sparkling water, carbonated water, or added CO₂ appears in either physical label ingredient list. “Slightly effervescent” is declared on both labels — consistent with natural second fermentation effervescence rather than forced carbonation. The brand explicitly states flavourings are infused via a second fermentation with whole ingredients. Refrigeration required and confirmed on both labels. The criterion is fully met across both verified flavours. 15 / 15
Flavouring method Max 15 pts — Whole fruit or botanicals. No artificial flavours or vague “natural flavouring.” Both physically verified flavours declare whole, fresh, named ingredients: fresh raspberries, fresh passion fruit (Raspberry Passionfruit); fresh lemongrass, fresh ginger, organic turmeric powder (Lemongrass Ginger Turmeric). No artificial flavourings, no “natural flavouring” entries, and no vague umbrella terms appear on either physical label. The Lemongrass Ginger Turmeric base is declared as “organic raw kombucha” — with the organic certification applied to the base ingredients. The ingredient declarations across both verified flavours are among the most specific in the Singapore kombucha market reviewed on this site. 15 / 15
Live cultures at point of sale Max 15 pts — Lab-verified CFU count or visible culture activity. Not pasteurised. “VEGAN RAW UNPASTEURIZED” is confirmed verbatim on both physical labels — the clearest and most direct live culture declaration in the KombuchaSG review directory. “Live kombucha culture” is explicitly named as an ingredient on both labels. “Strands of kombucha may appear. This is a sign of a healthy, only lightly filtered raw kombucha.” is a direct on-label acknowledgment of visible culture activity. Refrigeration required and confirmed. No CFU count is published. 15 / 15
Sugar content after fermentation Max 15 pts — Under 4g per 100ml. Consumed by SCOBY during fermentation. Physical label nutrition panels confirm sugars at 4g per 100ml across both verified flavours. Nutri-Grade B confirmed on both labels. The criterion requires under 4g per 100ml. At exactly 4g per 100ml, the product sits at the threshold but does not go below it. No artificial sweeteners appear in either ingredient list — all residual sugar comes from organic raw cane sugar fermented by the live kombucha culture. The scorecard criterion is applied uniformly: under 4g per 100ml. The declared level does not meet this threshold. 0 / 15
Ingredient transparency Max 15 pts — Full disclosure. No vague terms. Every ingredient clearly identified. Both physical labels carry full regulatory ingredient declarations. Every ingredient is named specifically — no vague terms, no umbrella flavouring declarations, no “natural flavouring” entries. “Live kombucha culture” is named explicitly rather than the generic “kombucha cultures” used by most brands reviewed. Nutrition panels and Nutri-Grade B confirmed on both labels. One point deducted for the inability to verify the full range from physical labels — Harmony, Strawberry Mint, Yuzu Lavender, and seasonal variants remain CaterSpot-sourced only. 13 / 15
Production integrity Max 10 pts — Small-batch, controlled, traceable. Founder-led or craft production preferred. Conceived and developed in Singapore by Michèle Vanlangenaeker and Summer. Kombucha Brewers International member. Organic raw cane sugar and organic teas confirmed across both labels. Whole fresh ingredient flavouring confirmed. The physical labels confirm: “Brewed and perfected in Malaysia” — the production facility is in Malaysia, not Singapore as stated in some brand materials. Products are distributed in Singapore by Rawsome Asia Beverages Pte Ltd. Both reviewed bottles use plastic rather than glass — a notable contrast to several other craft brands in the directory. No batch traceability visible on either physical label. 7 / 10
Total Score 78 / 100
🟡 Partially Authentic 78 / 100 — Some authentic attributes but notable scorecard gaps

Plain-Language Verdict

Wild Boocha scores Partially Authentic at 78 out of 100. The live culture credentials confirmed on the physical labels are among the strongest in the Singapore market — “VEGAN RAW UNPASTEURIZED” printed directly on the label, “live kombucha culture” named as an ingredient, and visible SCOBY strands explicitly acknowledged as evidence of a living product. The whole fresh ingredient flavouring philosophy is confirmed across both verified flavours, with no vague flavouring entries anywhere.

The score is held back by two findings from the physical labels. The first is sugar content: both flavours declare 4g per 100ml — exactly at the KombuchaSG scorecard threshold, not below it. The criterion requires under 4g per 100ml, applied uniformly across every brand on this site.

The second is production integrity. The physical labels confirm the product is “Brewed and perfected in Malaysia” — not Singapore, as some brand materials suggest. Products are distributed in Singapore by Rawsome Asia Beverages Pte Ltd. Both reviewed bottles are plastic, not glass. These are factual label findings, noted here for readers who consider local production and packaging format relevant to their purchasing decisions.

The flavouring transparency and the live culture declaration are genuine strengths. If sugar were brought under 4g per 100ml, the score would move to 93 — among the highest in the directory.

Editor’s Tasting Note

This section represents the personal tasting experience of the KombuchaSG editor and is entirely separate from the scorecard assessment above. Both physical flavours were tasted.

The Raspberry Passionfruit bottle had visible SCOBY strands floating in it — exactly what the label promises and exactly what a genuinely raw, lightly filtered kombucha should show. That part delivered.

The fermentation character did not. Despite the visible culture activity in the bottle, the drinking experience carried almost no fermentation taste. The tartness, the vinegary depth, the slightly funky complexity that develops through a well-maintained SCOBY process — none of it came through in any meaningful way. A product can carry living culture material and still not taste fermented if the fermentation process was not developed far enough, or if other factors are diluting the base character.

The Lemongrass Ginger Turmeric told a similar story. The lemongrass and ginger are present, but muted — turmeric even more so. For a product that declares fresh lemongrass, fresh ginger, and organic turmeric as named whole ingredients, the flavour intensity was noticeably low. These are assertive botanicals. In a genuinely fermented second-fermentation product, they integrate into the base and develop character over the fermentation period. What came through here read as mild infusion rather than fermented botanical depth.

More notable was a lingering aftertaste on both flavours that did not correspond to any declared ingredient. The labels declare only whole fresh ingredients. The aftertaste had the detached, synthetic quality characteristic of flavouring compounds rather than fermented whole produce. This may reflect how the flavourings are introduced — whether they go into the second fermentation or are added after — but the ingredient lists do not clarify this, and the flavour experience raises the question.

The carbonation across both flavours is soft and natural — consistent with genuine second fermentation, and a genuine positive in a market where several brands add CO₂ directly.
